According to The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), who has created a list of the top fitness trends, based on their survey, for the past 8 years, one of the hottest trends in fitness for 2014 is Body Weight Training. It’s ranked right up there with High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), Yoga and Functional Fitness, which all happen incorporate body weight training. This is the first appearance of this trend in the survey and it came in strong!
Body Weight Training is not limited to just push-ups, pull-ups and squats, this trend takes people “back to the basics” of fitness. There are so many advantages to body weight training! Since your body is your equipment and it’s designed specifically for you and your fitness level, you can exercise safely most anywhere and most anytime you choose (exercise 2 vs. excuses 0!). This also makes exercise completely affordable (another excuse bites the dust!). Body Weight Training will make you better and stronger at moving and using your body in your everyday life activities.
